Finished reading: Patriot Games (Movie Tie-In) by Tom Clancy 📚

This is the second Jack Ryan book that I’ve read (or listened to). The first was “The Hunt for the Red October”. I really liked that book. It kept my attention nearly the whole time. Patriot Games did not. It wasn’t a bad book, I just had a harder time getting into it like the first one. I was also a little disappointed in the ending.

Now that I’ve finished reading Extreme Ownership, I need to find another book to read. I have a plethora of them to choose from. I usually have several books going at the same time. I have an audiobook, a fiction book on my Kindle and then I have a entrepreneurial type book that I’m also reading.

Finished reading: Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win by Jocko Willink 📚

I really enjoyed this book! I really like how they bring lessons learned from their time being Navy Seals to the business world.

Also, the timing is interesting since I will be stepping into a management role starting next week.

Finished reading: The Hunt for Red October (Jack Ryan, #3) by Tom Clancy 📚

I have never read a Jack Ryan book. Decided to give it a go, though. I’ve always enjoyed the movies and the Amazon Prime show. I haven’t watched the “Hunt for the Red October” movie in so long that I couldn’t remember anything about it. Seemed like a good place to start.

I decided to go with the Audible version of this book. I listened mainly while I was walking, biking and/or mowing the yard. In short I really liked this book. I thought it was very well written and the narrator was really good. He brought the story out and his accents seemed perfect to me.

I loved the story. Since it was so long ago I watched the movie, I had zero idea what the plot was and why they were hunting the Red October. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

This book was interesting. There were three different that were intertwined with each other. This is a story that will make you love characters and hate others. I enjoyed it. I’ll start reading the next book (Dorothy Must Die) soon.

This was book four in the Dresden files. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t my favorite by any stretch. I had a hard time engaging. I listened when I went for walks so I was able to get through it pretty quick.

It’s ok to not finish a book, right? I mean I’ve been trying to read a book because the title sounded interesting but I’m having a hard time getting into it. Its on my Kindle so I can easily come back to it later, right? Obviously I know the answer is yes but this is a constant internal struggle.

Finished reading: Relationships First by Emily Frisella 📚

I’ve made it a goal to try and read at least 10 pages everyday of a self improvement type book. This is the second such book I’ve finished this year. I really liked this book.

This is all about building relationships and how that effects you as a business owner and/or an employee. Emily Frisella is a business owner so she approaches things from that perspective. However, she does make reference to using the same tactics/principles as an employee of a company. Bottom line, its all about building relationships with people.

Finished reading: Star Wars: Thrawn Ascendancy (Book II: Greater Good) (Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy) by Timothy Zahn 📚

I’ve mentioned more than once that I really like the character of Thrawn in the Star Wars universe. His tactical mind during battle is quite remarkable. I keep hoping they’ll bring him to the big screen at some point in time.

This was an Audible book. Marc Thompson does the narration. I usually enjoy books that he narrates.

This is the second book in a trilogy so you probably need to read book 1 before reading this one.

Thrawn is one of those characters that fascinates me in the Star Wars books. I hope someday they’ll bring him to the big screen.

I got this book on Audible and could not stop listening to it. The story was fascinating to me. It was unlike any Stephen King book I’ve ever read. The descriptiveness of the characters and the scenery was unmatched.

It’s a great story about what people will do for love (but not in the way you may think).

I love listening to Jack Reacher books on Audible. Dick Hill does an amazing job reading the books. This one was no different. Since its set in Texas during the summer, I understood a lot of the weather talk that went on in the book. The plot line was good as well. All-in-all, I would highly recommend this book.

Finished reading: Star Wars: Thrawn Ascendancy (Book I: Chaos Rising) (Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy 1) by Timothy Zahn 📚

One of my favorite Star Wars characters is Thrawn. This is the 7th book about him that I’ve read. I cannot wait to finish this trilogy (Book 2: Greater Good & Book 3: Lesser Evil).

I love his tactical mind and I love the way Timothy Zahn portrays this character. If you like Star Wars, I would highly recommend reading any of the Thrawn trilogy’s.

Just finished Reading: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir 📚

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS**
I thoroughly enjoyed The Martian and Artemis was entertaining. So when I heard Andy Weir had another book out I decided to give it a go.

Now, I must say that I went through all three of these books using Audible on my iPhone. This book, in my opinion, was a combination between the two previous books. What I mean by that is The Martian kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire book. Pretty much from chapter one until the final rescue from Mars.

Artemis wasn’t as suspenseful. It was more laid back and enjoyable. Someone running around a city on the moon and creating mischief. There was only a few instances where I felt any type of suspense.

I felt like Project Hail Mary had both of these elements at different times. There were moments that I was hanging on to every word as I waited to see what happened next. Then there were other moments that I felt like the book almost dragged along.

Overall, though, I thought the plot was great and I thought the storyline was really good. I would highly recommend this book.
