Hard to believe it’s been over two weeks since Rudy Gobert’s positive Covid-19 test. In reality it seems like a lifetime ago. In those two weeks we watched every sporting event shut down. Although leagues are talking about a restart date and when they could possibly try and get a season up and running, we have nothing yet.

The sad reality hits today when you realize this is opening day!!! Or should I say this should be opening day. We have no idea when the real opening day will be. The Toronto Blue Jays president has said that teams will need at least four weeks of spring training before they can start the season.

Of course, Scott Boris came out yesterday and said he has a proposal in place that could still allow teams to play a full 162 game season. This, however, would mean teams would play later in the fall and would even involve the World Series on Christmas Day.

Part of me is intrigued by this thought process. Mainly because you’d have the World Series played at a neutral site due to the cold weather. You’d either be playing inside a dome stadium or in a warmer weather location like California. The other part of me, though, realizes this means you’re trying to compete against the NFL for much longer time and I’m not sure how well that will work.

In all honesty let’s just hope we can defeat this epidemic and get sports going again. Until then, be sure to check out Picard.
