I was really excited about the NBA/WNBA HORSE challenge that was going to be shown on ESPN tonight. I got ready to watch it and I was 100% disappointed.

The idea was great. The pairings were great. The execution was terrible!

I understand the social distancing thing and not having a lot of people together. However, you mean to tell me the best and only way to broadcast this event was over phones and WiFi?

Could we not get one camera person from each city to get over there and record? Seems like that would work within the confines of social distancing. There were places that the video would stop and freeze. When it came back around, the ball had already fallen through the hoop.

The crazy part is you could tell it wasn’t live. The broadcast started at 7pm est. and they were talking about how their kids had just woke up. Another shot showed the sun in their eyes when they were trying to shoot from behind the goal.

For the self-proclaimed World Wide Leader in Sports, they need an education in how to broadcast an event.

The good thing is the Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance is set to air next Sunday night. Hopefully they get that one right.
