It's Not My Fault!
I started using micro.blog earlier this year. I wanted a place that I could capture my thoughts. Not just blog-style thoughts, though. I wanted a place that I could post to Twitter as well.
Micro Blog seemed like the perfect solution for me. It allows cross-posting to Twitter and it allows me to write longer blog posts when I want to. My friend, Gabz told me how he has his blog posts automatically dump into Day One. I started trying that and I love it. It keeps all my posts (short and small) and organizes it into a journal for me.
A couple months ago, another friend, Tim Nahumck went through a logo change for his site. You can read about it here. In there, he chronicles the process of getting a new logo. His logo is killer, btw. I’m a big fan of the design.
Then, last week, Andy Nicolaides posted about a new logo he had designed for his blog. Once again, I’m a huge fan of this logo. He tagged the person who did the logo and I immediately reached out to him.
With Micro Blog, I have been using a Charicature that I use for all my social media outlets. I decided I wanted something different. I wanted something that would be different than the normal. I could have designed it myself but I wanted to get someone else to do it. I wanted a professional.

I replied to Andy’s tweet because I knew he had tagged Dan Rogers. I talk to Andy in other places but I wanted to respond to this tweet in particular so I could talk to Dan and see about getting a logo designed for my blog.
Dan reached out to me fairly quick and we started talking about ideas. I didn’t want anything fancy. I wanted something surrounding my name and my favorite color: green. Dan took off and within 24 hours had already shot me 10 different ideas.
I told him which ones I liked and he played around with that a little more and shot me some more ideas. A few hours later, he was emailing me the final product. This is the new logo for my blog:
