The Cat We Cannot Keep

Two weeks ago, while having lunch at my parents house, I noticed a kitten. She came up to me and was as friendly as can be. I had never seen her before. I asked my parents if they got a new cat and they said no. They said she showed up the night before and had no idea where from.
My dad was adament that they weren’t feeding her because she wasn’t staying there. So, completely disregarding his wishes, I got some cat food and fed her. Then, I loaded her up in the car and took her to my house.
She had a purple collar on so I’m assuming she belongs to someone. I put the word out on social media and nothing. You can tell by the way she acts that she is a pet. Unlike my other cat, this one will allow you to hold her and she will curl up in your lap and go to sleep. She is absolutely adorable.
After several tries of giving her away, we couldn’t find any takers. She’s been staying at my in-laws house in their garage for the time being. We go over there every night and play with her. Well I think we have finally found a home for her.
Now I know what you’re thinking. Why don’t we just keep her if she’s that great. The answer is simple, I really, really want to. She’s that great of a cat. The problem isn’t her, though. The problem is my seven year old male cat at the house that’s had to have all kinds of surgeries. He is on a special diet and the food isn’t cheap. We cannot have other cat food in the house because he’ll eat that and it could kill him. If we keep this kitten, we would have to feed her the same cat food as Eragon (yes, his name came from this book) and that can get extremely expensive.
We found a good home for her. We did tell the new owners that we expect visitation rights. Since it’s a family member, I’m sure that won’t be a problem. One other thing, we did name her before passing her on. We named her Saphira. With a cat named Eragon, what else could we name her?
