A Country Divided
This past week I kept hearing the term divided nation. Most of the time, it’s being spoken about democrats vs republicans. Half the country wants Biden. Half the country wants Trump. We’re divided.
I usually don’t write anything political. I don’t usually discuss politics with people. I have my beliefs and, I’m of the mindset, that more than likely I’m not going to change your opinion politically. More than likely, you’re old enough to do your own research.
I’m still not going to talk politics. Rather, I’m going to talk about being a human. One thing that bothered me over the past month or two (and it goes back further than that) is the hatred you see from one person to another person. I’ve watched people voice their opinion on social media only to have their comments inundated with hatred because that opinion didn’t line up with their beliefs.
The thing that makes this country great is we all have the right to vote for whoever we choose. It doesn’t matter the reason and it doesn’t matter why. We all have the right to choose who we want (Case-in-point: people voted for Kanye West in this election). Does that make them an idiot? No it makes them part of a democracy.
I know the election has been called for Biden. I know that Trump and his team are going through the legal process to make sure ballots were counted correctly, etc. I’m sure this is going to drag out for a while. I’m not sure what will happen, but I do know this. If we’re going to truly join together as a country, we can’t hate someone for what they believe.
