We were supposed to put the tree up. It was in the works. I went and got it from the place it was being stored. I brought it home. I brought it in the house. We did the outside decorations and lights on Friday. Saturday we decorated the yard at my in-laws house. So, today was all about the tree.

After unloading it we noticed a kitten outside that wasn’t doing too well. Let me backtrack just a little bit. We had a stray cat bring her four kittens to our house about a month ago. She’s been keeping them fed. She’s gone and gotten mice and birds for them. She also nurses them still. My wife and I have just had to watch them have fun and enjoy themselves. They play and play and run around and do the things that kittens do.

That’s why we knew something was wrong with this little calico kitten. She wasn’t moving around much. When she did she was limping. But she wasn’t eating. She drank a little bit. My wife was concerned so she took some food out there for her, but she didn’t eat. The other ones did. She just laid in the bed.

We brought her inside and tried giving her some milk but she wouldn’t drink it at all. My wife put her on the couch with her and wrapped her up to try and keep her warm but there was something wrong. We called a friend of ours who is a vet and she told some things to try. We tried it all night long. Well, about an hour ago, my wife said “I don’t think she’s breathing any more.”

She tried shaking her and rubbing her back. Tried getting her to move but nothing. The kitten died in my wife’s arm. If you know my wife, you would know that she is still crying about this. She is very much a cat lover and a cat person. I waited a few minutes and then went outside and dug a hole. We went outside and buried the little kitten. So the tree didn’t happen. We got interrupted by life. And that’s ok.
