It’s hard to believe its been a year since the tragic death of Kobe Bryant. Part of met thinks it should be longer because of everything that happened in 2020 and then part of me thinks I should wake up from this nightmare and Kobe is still doing his thing.

Crazy, crazy sports weekend and it starts here:

  1. Seriously, is there anyone out there that wants to argue the greatness of Tom Brady? What he has done is simply remarkable and its hard to imagine that anyone will ever do anything like it again. Perspective here: Super Bowl 55 will be played in a couple of weeks. Brady will have played in 10 of them. Broken down that’s almost a one in five clip. That’s crazy.
  2. More Brady news: Brady has played in 14 conference finals. He’s now 1-0 in the NFC Championship game. His counterpart on Sunday, Aaron Rodgers has also won one NFC Championship game.
  3. I’m a Bills fan and I’m sure everyone knows and I can honestly say I’m super excited about that team. They played awful on Sunday but that’s ok. As long as they learn from it and I think they will. Josh Allen proved this year he can be a leader and a superstar for Buffalo.
  4. Patrick Mahomes is just sick. What he can do with the football is insane. One of my favorite plays from the AFC Championship Sunday was about a 12 yard pass to Travis Kelce. What made this so great was the fact that Mahomes was getting sacked and falling to the turf. While falling down he throws a dart to his Tight End for the first down.
  5. Pretty sure most of the country got the Super Bowl matchup they wanted. Brady vs Mahomes should be quite the battle.
  6. On to the next best sport: Hockey. The Dallas Stars finally started their season this past weekend and they came out of the gates on fire. Dallas beat Nashville 7-0 on Friday night and then 3-2 on Sunday. Crazy thing about this is only one of their goals came at even strength. They scored one short handed goal and eight power play goals. Dallas only scored 42 power play goals all last year. They’re 19% of their way to that number and have only played two goals.
  7. Surely I’m not the only person wondering how Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and James Harden are going to fair with each, right? If you’re the Nets, I see why you did the trade. I just don’t know how it works. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
  8. The NHL and the NBA both have some Covid-19 issues to work through. The scheduling going forward could get super crazy. Especially when trying to figure out how to get games in at places like Dallas and Chicago when two teams occupy the same building.

Normally I have 10 items but this time, I am stopping at 8. I’ll let you figure out why.

RIP Kobe!
