So I’m down 30 pounds since March. This is something I’ve been working on accomplishing. I’ve always enjoyed working out. That’s never been the issue.

The problem has ALWAYS been my diet. I knew that if I was going to get my weight under control, I was going to have to do something about the way I eat. I hate counting calories. Let me be more specific. I loathe counting calories. However, I have realized that losing weight is simple math. You must consume less calories than you burn. And, unfortunately, the only way to really understand this is to count calories.

So I downloaded an app from 1st Phorm. I’ve kept up with this company for a while and love their mission statement. So when I heard they had an app that allows you to track macros, I decided to jump on it.

I have my macros set and I try to consistently hit the protein and caloric goals. I have carbs and fats set up but protein is the one I’m concentrating on. I’m working out and trying to maintain muscle as I lose fat. Protein helps with both of these. It helps build muscle and it helps with fat loss. I’ve concentrated on making sure I’m getting proper nutrients (through vitamins and supplements sometimes).

Another thing I’ve done is added electrolytes into the mix. As much as I sweat because of working out, I wanted something to help replenish the sodium and such that I was losing. I didn’t want to drink gatorade or other sugary drinks so I looked for a compromise. I found it here. I have started drinking one or two packs of these every day to help replenish the sodium, magnesium and potassium I’m losing while working out.

Thirty pounds is a good number but I have more that I need to lose. As long as I keep doing these things, I feel confident in reaching the goal.
