I’ve been reminded lately that I need to take time out of my life and make time for myself. I’ve been so busy with a new job and sports reporting that I lost sight of myself and my goals.

It was mid-May and I realized that I was having some health problems. I was working out but I was noticing some other issues. My diet was terrible. I was eating junk food all the time. I had the mindset that I could outwork a bad diet and I was wrong. I was lying to myself and trying to trick my mind into believing that.

That’s when I decided to make a change. I decided I needed to change my diet. I did just that. Here we are almost two months later and I’ve dropped 30 pounds. Something else happened, though. I started investing in other areas of my life as well. I started turning off the television and reading more. I’m spending more time outside (even though its 100+ outside).

The one action of trying to better myself with the diet set off a chain reaction that has seen me trying to get better in other areas of my life as well. So, wherever you are….whatever you’re doing. Take time out for you. You’re worth the investment. Just ask your friends and family.
