So much for me wondering if the 50/50 raffles at sporting events are a scam. I’ve wondered in the past if anyone actually wins the money. I mean as many sporting events as I attend every year, I feel like the odds would be in my favor that I would at least be i the general area of someone winning the money. I feel like I would hear someone yelling with excitement when their number was called out.

This has never happened. So, sometimes I wonder if their is actually a winner. I mean how you would anyone know if there was or wasn’t, right? If a number is called out, I assumed its a winning number and that someone won the money….but that assumption is never verified. Well, not until now.

Sunday morning I got a text message from a friend standing next to a big check. I zoomed in and it was a check from the 50/50 raffle at a game the previous night. They had won the money. I was super excited. For two reasons actually. First, it restored my faith in the process and second because these people deserve to win that. They are constantly giving and doing for everyone else. So that made me happy!

So tonight when I’m sitting at a hockey game, I may purchase a 50/50 ticket. And if I win, people three sections over will know it!
