I’ve talked about this app before, but lets do it again. I’m talking about the app Albums. I opened this app today before my workout. I searched for Flogging Molly and hit play.

I, like many people, have playlists on my phone. I have all sorts of different lists to choose from. I have one for working out. Another one that’s full of Broadway music. A different playlist has movie soundtracks. I have a jazz playlist as well as a Christmas playlist (only to be played in the month of December). Most of the time I’ll pull one of these lists up and hit shuffle. Then I forgot about it and go about my day-to-day tasks.

Other times when I’m at home, and I don’t want to listen to a specific playlist, I’ll go to my music library and hit shuffle. I’m so accustomed to listening to music through curated lists. Either lists that I pick and make up or that some algorithm chooses for me. It’s convenient and easy.

This is a nice way to listen to music and I’m sure most people do something similar (ok I’m not sure but I’m guessing I’m right). Sometimes we forget that artists put together albums in a certain order for a reason. We don’t know why. Sometimes they’re conveying a simple story through the songs chosen. Perhaps its something else. The point remains that sometimes its just great to listen to an album the way the artist intended.

That’s where the app album comes in to play. It does just that. When you open the app and choose an album, it gives you a time that album takes to play and it plays it from start to finish (unless you pause/stop it of course). The app is free to use. Some features are not available except through their premium service.

I use the free version and it does what I need/want it to. Highly suggested if you love listening to music albums.
