Ponderings for today

Talking with a co-worker about how crazy the English language is with all the different pronunciations for words spelled the same way (live/live). Or perhaps the same pronunciation for words spelled differently (for/fore/four). Then, if you throw in a Texas dialect. It’s completely different. Makes me glad I’m not a teacher and makes me feel bad for those that are. Actually, no I don’t. They had lots of different subjects to choose and they stuck with English.

One of the best things about ESPN+? Being able to watch hockey on a night the Stars aren’t playing.

Tick Tock

There are some days that seem to drag by and today, my friend, is one of those days. I’m not sure what the deal is but I feel like the minute hand on the clock has come a grinding halt. After I leave the office, though, it will speed up to triple time until tomorrow morning. That’s how this works. Time speeds up during the fun times and slows way down during the work times.

Media Day

I always love the ability to do things like this. North Lamar had media day on Wednesday to unveil a new uniform. Players were available to be interviewed. This is a good group of kids and it will be fun to watch them play.

Is there anything better than a workout in the morning? Every day I wake up thinking about hitting snooze and going back to sleep. Then, I get up and get to the gym. I always feel a thousand times better too.

Got a chance to be a guest on a podcast this weekend. It was two hours that flew by as we talked about sports, technology, the weather and a bunch of other stuff. Check it out here:

Today is a Sad Day!!!

As I recorded a podcast this afternoon with Greg Morris, my phone notified me of something that had happened earlier in the day. The news was completely out of nowhere, and when I read it, I had to do a double-take. I wasn’t sure I had read it correctly. “Breaking: Kobe Bryant dies at 41: NBA legend killed in helicopter crash in Los Angeles.” Less than 24 hours earlier, Kobe was the talk of the NBA world because LeBron James was about to pass him for third on the all-time scoring list.

Winter Classic 2020

This is by far the coolest sporting event I have ever been a part of. To be in the Cotton Bowl in downtown Dallas with 85,000 other hockey fans is something I cannot even begin to articulate. Cannot wait to do this again. Road trip to Minnesota for New Years Day 2021 anyone?

Sometimes

Sometimes the stars line up perfectly and its like the universe is trying to tell you something. I was at the gym earlier and decided I wanted to come home and write something for my blog. I wasn’t 100% sure though. I had this idea and I’ll still cover that. First, though, I wanted to go home and watch a little television. Just to let my mind relax a bit after a work day.

I don’t post to this enough.

Change is Coming

Change is inevitable. There has to be change. Things that don’t change grow stagnant. So change is a vital part of human growth and development. Too much change, though, can lead to confusion and chaos. There has to be the right balance. Sometimes it happens because we want it to. Other times, change happens and there isn’t anything we can do about it. The key is how we respond to the change.

App Purging

Realized this weekend that I’ve spent time using apps that other people recommend. These apps seem to be good for those people and their individual workflows but I never considered if these would fit my specific needs. So, I’m on a quest to find out what works for me and what stays. Nothing is sacred. Obviously I have some apps that I know will remain on my iPhone and/or my iPad.

Pretty sure I’m not getting much done today since there is an Indiana Jones marathon going on right now.

Ok. So after much thought and deliberation it’s time to give bullet journaling a try.
